The reference to this painting was from a trip I took to Italy in 2024. I was depressed, I was aimless and I was searching for hope. How do clothes on a line give me hope? I cannot put words to the feeling but something in me deeply settled when I saw this particular clothesline. Maybe it was the dappled light flicking through the olive trees or maybe it was the perfect coastal breeze rustling the sheets. To put it simply, it was a moment I wanted to live inside forever. I am always searching for places, people and things that put me back into that space. A space I never want to leave.
